ABOUT
Behind SokanRed lies a journey shaped by curiosity, colour, observation and the constant desire to create.
ORIGINS
Before painting, there was drawing. Before colour became a language, there was observation, curiosity and the desire to understand forms.
Artistic creation gradually became a personal territory — a place where perception, memory and imagination could meet.
THE BEGINNING
In 1998, under the guidance of Xavier Lafaysse, painting opened a new field of exploration: colour.
What began as a discovery progressively became a personal artistic language.
In January 2001, a painting was signed SOKAN for the first time. A new artistic identity had begun to take shape.
“I do not pretend to be an artist. I observe, I study, I paint.”
A PERSONAL PATH
SokanRed developed his practice largely through observation, experimentation and personal research.
This self-taught path allowed painting to evolve without the need to belong to a school or to follow a predetermined artistic system.
Painting, drawing and other forms of visual expression gradually became parts of the same creative universe.
A PAUSE
For several years, artistic creation deliberately gave way to another project: returning to study and completing a Bachelor's degree.
This period of nearly six years was not an abandonment of the artistic journey, but a different form of exploration, learning and construction.
A NEW CHAPTER
With the Bachelor's degree completed in 2025, SokanRed gradually returned to his artistic universe.
The intention is not simply to continue exactly where the work stopped, but to approach creation with new experiences, new perspectives and the same fascination for colour.
A new chapter begins.
SYMBOLIC PORTRAIT
A Chinese portrait remains perhaps the
simplest and most interesting way
for
SokanRed to introduce himself.

A SYMBOL
Among all the elements of this symbolic portrait, the phoenix occupies a particular place in SokanRed's universe.
The mythical creature evokes cycles of disappearance and renewal — consumed by fire before being reborn from its ashes.
Fire, red, transformation and renewal naturally connect the phoenix with several recurring elements of SokanRed's personal and artistic world.
CONTINUING
The artist and the work cannot be completely
separated.
Yet the language of the paintings
deserves its own space — a space devoted to
nature, colour, form and emotion.
